Tastes like a Fig Newton but oh so healthy for you! Fennel and figs are two known digestive aids and together perform like a dynamite duo. Hmmm . . . maybe the word “dynamite” doesn’t work well when we are talking digestion and thinking daisy fresh underwear, so let’s change that to “delicate duo,” shall we? The flavor combination of figs and fennel is something you must try . . . amazing! This recipe is found in the "Gut Healing Shakes & Smoothies" section of the Trim Healthy Table Cookbook, page 485.
Intro continued......Fresh figs are a lovely E fruit but are hard to find
year-round and are expensive, and the dried fruit is seldom eaten on the THM plan. What to do, what to do? No worries, if you soak dried figs overnight and let them reabsorb their water content, they work beautifully in this E smoothie. The soaking releases some of the fruit sugars from the figs into the water so they are easier on your blood sugar.
