Preheat the oven to 425°F.

Rinse the asparagus and trim off the end pieces. Spread out in a single layer on a large rimmed baking sheet.

Drizzle the melted butter or oil over the asparagus. Season with salt and pepper and sprinkle on the garlic and Parmesan. Using your hands, mix the asparagus with the butter and the rest of the ingredients, then lay them out in a single layer again. Bake for 9 to 10 minutes.
