Today I hit my first goal weight of 150 pounds!!! That makes about 25 pounds and 4 years between these two pictures.

In the first picture, I had an undiagnosed under-active thyroid. As a cheerleader in high school, I was very active and at a healthy weight. When I suddenly gained 10 pounds, I went to the doctor but she insisted nothing was wrong with me. I then gained another 12-15 pounds and my self-esteem and confidence hit rock bottom, as well as my ability to keep up in cheerleading. I graduated high school feeling like I had failed myself. I so desperately tried to keep from gaining weight but nothing I did worked.

After a year, I went to a new doctor who tested my hormone levels and I learned about my thyroid condition. I went on medicine and expected the weight to just fall off. I had done nothing to gain it so my thinking was that I shouldn’t have to work to lose it. When the weight didn’t come off despite my attempts at eating better and exercising, I figured that I was destined to be heavy. I lived in defeat and I hated my body for betraying me.

It wasn’t until I discovered Trim Healthy Mama last summer that I finally felt hope. This program has changed my life and has given me my confidence back. I am no longer on thyroid medication, I exercise 4-5 times a week, and I see food in a whole new light. I have about 10-15 more pounds I would like to lose and I know I will get there in time! I can’t express how thankful I am for Trim Healthy Mama and how it has changed my life.

My wife heard about Trim Healthy Mama from a friend and suggested we try it. I was reluctant up until lazy lasagna was in front of me an hour later. I KNEW I wouldn’t lose weight. Next morning: zesty cheddar biscuits with bacon & avo. I KNEW I could not lose weight eating this way, the food is too delicious.

Fast forward 7 weeks and no workouts later . . . I have lost 25 lbs personally and my best friend/skeptic has now lost 10 lbs in the last two weeks! We call ourselves Trim Healthy Daddy’s.

I cried in the dressing room today. It wasn’t the first time. But every time before they’ve been sad tears. Tears of frustration. Tears of disgust. Tears of anger with myself for letting it get so bad. But today… Today I cried as I zipped up size 6 jeans. Sometimes I still have a hard time believing I’ve shed so many pounds, insecurities, frustrations and sadness. Remember ladies, it’s a lifelong marathon of health and fitness, not a quick sprint to get “skinny”. Keep on keepin’ on, Mamas!!

22 months ago I started on Trim Healthy Mama. I downloaded the kindle version and jumped in head first. To say this was life changing is an understatement. I’m 5 pounds away from what I weighed my senior year in high school… and I’m 44 years old and I’ve birthed 8 babies.

Since March we have lost over 110 lbs combined! Thanks to Trim Healthy Mama for awakening us from the heavy fog of weight. When we know better we can do better. It took me a couple weeks but then it clicked. I love the lazy lasagna from the new cookbook and sausage and cabbage is another favorite.
