THM CBD FAQ
CBD oil has incredible health benefits for many! From ADHD, Alzheimer’s, arthritis, depression, epilepsy, hypertension, inflammation, pain, sleep… just to name a few! There is so much research out there supporting all the ways CBD oil can help support your health.
However, we are not doctors and we cannot tell you that CBD oil will help or cure anything for sure. We are all so different and will respond differently. We recommend you do personal research, consider speaking to an integrative medical professional, and make the best educated decision for yourself and that of your family.
A great place to start your research would be CBD Oil 101: What You Should Know. This article is great because it contains lots of links to research articles and studies!
Question 1. What are the benefits of CBD?
Answer: Current studies have shown that CBD has powerful anti-inflammatory, anti-anxiety, anti-depressant qualities. It is also used successfully as a seizure treatment, cancer fighter and tumor preventative, sleep aid, neuroprotectant, and cognitive enhancer. CBD also supports healthy heart function, vascular health and gastrointestinal health to name just a few. There is an extraordinarily vast body of scientific research on the broad therapeutic uses of cannabis and particularly of CBD and THC. More evidence exists than can be found on some of the most widely used therapies of conventional medicine.
Question 2. Why would Serene and Pearl attach themselves to CBD? Isn’t that like aligning with drugs?
Answer: Not at all. Both CBD isolate and full spectrum hemp oils are derived from the industrial hemp plant. This is different from the marijuana plant although they are related cannabis plants. The marijuana plant makes people high from the super high concentrations of a compound called THC. You CANNOT get high from industrial hemp as it does not contain enough THC. I do hope you will listen to episodes 96 & 97 of the THM Poddy, if you haven’t already, to understand this more fully. I knew nothing about CBD a year or so ago and also wondered if it would make people high or stoned so I wanted no part of it. Once I learned about the largest extra-cellular system in our body called the endocannabinoid system, I realized if it is not addressed, it will go into decline and then many things in the body become imbalanced including the immune system, sleep, inflammation, mood etc. Full spectrum hemp addresses this system and works on restoring it. So to be very clear… our Trim Healthy Hemp product cannot get you high but it can make you vastly healthier.
Question 3. Why not do a completely THC free formula? Or does THC add some additional benefit?
Answer: Let’s review what THC is again… it is the part of the cannabis plant that has the psychotropic element to it… it is what people think of when they think of a drug. When it comes to industrial hemp oils, there is a straight CBD isolate oil and a Full Spectrum CBD oil. Full Spectrum CBD contains all the cannabinoids found in the plant including CBN (Cannabinol), CBG (Cannabigerol), and THCV (Tetrahydrocannabivarin), to name a few. Each cannabinoid offers different benefits for a wide variety of ailments. Full Spectrum CBD also contains trace amounts of THC (Tetrahydrocannabinol), but in very low concentrations (up to 0.3%), resulting in no psychoactive stimulation. Our Trim Healthy Hemp Product (called Feminine Balance) does contain a slight amount of THC but in smaller amounts than what is even legal in industrial hemp (only .1%). This part of the plant offers incredible immune healing and disease preventing benefits so we want it in there to heal and restore. While CBD isolate may have many health benefits, it won’t be the full range of the whole plant full spectrum CBD oil which has even greater healing powers.
Question 4. Will CBD show up in drug tests?
Answer: Only a metabolite produced from THC, or Tetrahydrocannabinol, is tested for in a drug test. Whole-plant, or full-spectrum CBD oils (like our Feminine Balance CBD) do contain trace amounts of THC, but in very small amounts! Much larger quantities would usually have to be consumed in order to register on drug tests. It is possible that taking CBD oil in a large dose may show up on a trace urinalysis, but is a 100% legal product and shouldn’t interfere with your job if you disclose it. It also should not be enough to trigger a positive in a blood test, depending on how frequently and how much you are taking.
Question 5. Is the oil always to be ingested or can it be applied as a salve or ointment for knee pain, etc. topically?
Answer: There are three ways to take CBD oil. When you apply CBD topically, the CBD compounds interact with cannabinoid receptors that are near where the product is applied. This can be helpful when you are treating a specific pain you’re having in your body, but it won’t be as effective with the potential FULL body benefits. When you take CBD orally, (ours is infused into our highly absorbable MCT oil) the compounds eventually enter the bloodstream after traveling through your digestive system. We recommend the sublingual method (placing the drops under your tongue for about 30 seconds). Because the sublingual method allows CBD to bypass the digestive system, CBD is delivered much more quickly to the bloodstream compared to when you ingest the compounds and they have to first be metabolized by the liver.
Question 6. What is the difference between CBD and Copaiba oil? And which is more effective?
Answer: Boy, this is a doozy. While there are some great copaiba oils out there it is not the same thing as CBD or full spectrum hemp. At this stage, it appears that cannabidiol oil (from hemp) has much broader applications across a wide range of health issues. Plus, it’s almost always safe to use, even in high doses. Nobody denies that the beta-caryophyllene found in copaiba is a potent anti-inflammatory agent, but its overall capabilities right now pale in comparison to those of CBD oil. Some essential oil websites mistakenly refer to beta-caryophyllene as a cannabinoid, but it is actually a terpene. Terpenes are similar to cannabinoids in some regards, and they are now thought to have many medicinal properties in their own right. Some terpenes interact with our cannabinoid receptors. Beta-caryophyllene is one of the terpenes that stimulates the endocannabinoid system, and it’s also the reason many have drawn comparisons between copaiba and CBD oil. Both oils contain high levels of this same terpene, which research has demonstrated has potent anti-inflammatory action. Yet regarding CBD, copaiba is not really a competitor. It has its place in nature’s abundant pharmacy, but it’s definitely not “the new CBD oil,” and it shouldn’t be confused as such.
Question 7. How much CBD is in the Feminine Balance?
Answer: There are 300mg of CBD in each 30mL bottle of our Feminine Balance CBD blend. We used the whole hemp to ensure potency while staying affordable and the herbs used are to potentiate the balancing effect of CBD in our bodies. Each full dropper is 1mL and contains 10mg of CBD.
Question 8. Will it be legal for THM to sell it to all of the United States? Or are there legal (state) limitations?
Question 9. What makes the Trim Healthy Hemp Oil unique?
Answer: Our own extremely pure whole hemp tincture is being manufactured/ distilled/ extracted in our very own facility here in Tennessee. It is designed to support your sleep, hormones and emotions while reducing your pain and inflammation levels. In a small study it greatly helped a group of women with sleep, pain, mood, weight stalls, inflammation and a number of other issues.
Question 10. Is the Feminine Balance Blend safe for women who are trying to conceive, are currently pregnant, or breastfeeding?
Answer: Of course, we must advise that you do your own personal research and check with your healthcare provider or midwife if you have any concerns.
However, CBD oil provides an array of medical benefits and it is widely used by women who are trying to conceive or while breastfeeding. For women, clary sage is known to help stimulate the pituitary gland, helping the flow of estrogen and in turn helps regulate and bring balance to the menstrual flow, which can be beneficial for women who are trying to conceive a baby.
Due to some of the herbs used in our infusion, we do not recommend our Feminine Balance Blend be used during pregnancy. Many women choose to use it right up until that positive pregnancy test and then again right after the baby is born, as it may help with milk production and postpartum depression.
Serene makes the personal choice to use our Feminine Balance Blend CBD oil while nursing. She is very leery of many herbs during the breastfeeding years, yet she feels very safe using this while nursing her own sweet babes.
In the near future, we will be working on a formula that will be compatible with the unique issues of pregnancy, so all our blossoming Mamas won’t feel left out.
Question 11. Will THM’s Feminine Balance CBD oil blend interfere with hormone replacement therapies or birth control pills?
Answer: Our Feminine Balance Blend contains herbs which are very gentle and work to balance hormones for many women. We do suggest speaking to your healthcare provider if you have any health concerns that are estrogen related just to be sure. However, we have been encouraged to read studies that show CBD and whole hemp are very effective at fighting female cancers of all types. We recommend this article to get you started on your personal research.
Question 12. I am fighting an estrogen positive cancer; can I still take CBD oil?
Answer: Full-spectrum CBD oil may be very helpful for women who are fighting an estrogen positive cancer as it is shown to reduce estrogen levels and block estrogen effects. You may prefer and benefit more from one of our higher strength CBD oils that will be coming soon in 2019 instead of the herbal-infused first release Feminine Balance. Question 16. Is this Feminine Balance Blend formula safe to give to animals?
Answer: This formula was specially developed for women.
Question 17. How much Feminine Balance should I take each day and how do I do it?
Answer: Each of us responds uniquely to CBD oil. You will need to find your sweet spot. The bottle suggests using 1/2 – 1 dropper full once to twice a day by dropping the oil under your tongue and holding it there for 30 seconds. (You can start with less if you prefer.) The women in the study for Feminine Balance were asked to try 10 drops under the tongue twice a day and many had fantastic results with that amount (which works out to roughly 1/4 of a dropper full twice a day). Some people respond magnificently to taking the oil shortly before bed and have much deeper and longer sleep cycles. A few people find it stimulates them at night. If that occurs, you may want to try dosing during daylight or morning hours to make use of the wonderful energy surge.
Question 18: Will CBD oil interact with my medications or other supplements?
Answer: CBD oil has incredible health benefits for many! There is so much research out there supporting all the ways CBD oil can help support your health.
However, we are not doctors and we cannot tell you that CBD oil will help or cure anything for sure and likewise we cannot tell you for sure if CBD will interact with your medication or other supplements.
We do recommend that you speak to a trusted healthcare professional if you have any concerns. One thing to note is that CBD and grapefruit share a similar enzyme which can affect how your body processes certain medications. If you have received specific instructions from a medical professional regarding grapefruit, you may want to treat any CBD products with the same caution. On the flip side, CBD can often make other drugs more effective or lessen the need for them. Anecdotally, many people have used CBD oil along with common medications such as those used to treat blood pressure with great results.
