PEARL CHATS: This is a whole new way to eat tomato soup, and it will be devoured before your eyes! Not a soul will ever guess about the secret veggie; it just makes the soup creamier. This is a hit with every kid I have ever served it to, and even more exciting—it’s done from start to finish within 15 minutes! There are two ways of making this . . . one is picky-kid friendly, the other is loaded up for appreciative adults. Both versions are delish! This is a hit with every kid I have ever served it to, and even more exciting—it’s done from start to finish within 15 minutes! Instructions

  1. Brown the sausage with the pepperoni in the bottom of a large soup pot over medium-high heat. (If making the loaded version, add in the seasoning blend, mushrooms, and olives at the same time and sauté along with the meats while they are browning.)

  1. Put the pizza sauce, canned tomato sauce, and okra in a blender and blend. Blend like a champ until smooth as silk and no little green okra bits are there to tell the tale.

  1. Pour the blender mixture into the pot along with the chicken broth with the optional gelatin and collagen (if using) and the water. Add the basil, oregano, garlic powder, cayenne, salt and pepper to taste (only ½ to ¾ teaspoon salt is needed), and the heavy cream. Bring to a quick boil, then reduce to a simmer and cook for another 5 to 10 minutes.

MAKE A FAMILY MEAL:

  • For the weight-loss plan, this soup is perfect with WWBB Garlic Bread (page 245) or a grilled cheese sandwich using WWBB or store-bought Joseph’s pita. Or simply have a big bowl of soup alone or with a side salad.
  • Crossover stage family members like growing children love it with lots of buttered sprouted-grain toast for dunking.
