Serene Chats: “This way of eating grains is my favorite E breakfast!!!! It feels like I am gobbling up a giant Crossover with lots of fat but nope, it’s a clean E. It is my husband’s favorite too because he loves to eat big and hearty breakfasts in the morning (since I’m usually either nursing or pregnant… so do I). Many E breakfasts leave my husband still hungry. He’s 6 ft 5 and it takes a lot of food to fill him up. This breakfast is incredibly filling. Sam manages to eat all of it but it is hard for me to finish it many times. No problem, I have some left for a mid-morning or afternoon snack.” This recipe is found in the “Sunrise Eats – Good Morning Grains” section of our Trim Healthy Mama Cookbook. This is a single-serve recipe.

Cooking Mode Disabled

Instructions

  1. Place the grain in a small saucepan. Add the whey (if using, but do not turn the heat on yet.
  2. Blend the water, coconut oil, cinnamon, salt, vanilla, collagen, gelatin, Super Sweet Blend, and lecithin (if using) until smooth. Pour over the grain and stir well, breaking up any grain clumps and dissolving the whey.
  3. Add the berries and turn on the heat to medium-low. Bring to a perfect soothing hotness to eat; don’t boil hard and destroy the fragile whey micro-fractions.
  4. Pour into a large cereal bowl and enjoy.

Note

Note from Serene:

“Creamy Grains is supposed to be a high volume, filling bowl of goodness that is not gluggy or thick. The word “creamy” in the title describes the liquid over the grain which comes out like full-fat milk. However, if you prefer a more thickened porridge-type of breakfast, you could add about 1/3 - 1/2 tsp glucci to the blender with the other ingredients."

From page 252, Trim Healthy Mama Cookbook:

"The protein amino acid profile in this breakfast is just so beautiful and balanced. Try this one...I think it will soon be your favorite. Oh...when I make it for hubby too I just double the recipe and give him just a little more than me. If you’re dairy free, this is a great way to get a protein rich, creamy E breakfast inside you without a speck of dairy to be seen!"

*Note: Adding the 1/2 scoop of whey will give you roughly 25 grams of protein together with the collagen and gelatin.  It is recommended to add the whey last, before serving.
