Spicy Nuts – Pearl’s Version

Description

These spicy nuts are delicious eaten with small cubes of cheese or thrown into salads. Pearl has created the ultimate in spicy nuts!! This multiple-serve recipe is found on pages 396-397 of the original Trim Healthy Mama book.

1 Multiple Serve

Ingredients

Instructions

  1. Pour any raw nuts onto a baking tray. Pecans and walnuts work really well.
  2. Add 1 to 2 tsp coconut oil.
  3. Season with mineral salt (or a couple squirts of Bragg's Liquid Aminos) and cayenne pepper, to taste.
  4. Toss nuts in seasonings.
  5. Broil for about 2 minutes until coconut oil melts (if it was in a solid state). Remove the baking tray from the oven and stir the oil around with the nuts.
  6. Return to the oven and broil until nuts are browning. Toss once more.
  7. Be sure not to let the nuts burn. Broiling time doesn't take long. Keep a good watch.

Note

The nuts will become crunchy once they have cooled.  You might need to portion size them into little baggies if you tend to overdo nuts.
