SERENE CHATS: "I always throw a couple of these zippies in my purse if I have to be away from home for a day or especially if I have to go out of town for a couple of days. Obviously we purists can’t carry big, giant stock pots around with us - so this version of my Purist Primer uses Integral Collagen. It makes it easy to get a protein and nutrient-rich "tide-me-over" for when I am somewhere devoid of any healthy options. It brings a little bit of the comfort of home to me when I am out and about. If you catch me at an airport or on the plane, I might just have this yummy concoction in my insulted coffee mug (and if I look happy and contented, now you know why). This is an especially wonderful treat on-the-go during the fall and winter, although I drink it year-round."
SERVING IDEA: Carry the bag in your purse when traveling. When ready to enjoy, rip or snip a hole in the bottom corner and squeeze out into a stainless steel coffee mug with a good lid. Fill with hot water from any nearby café or gas station carafe. Stir with a coffee stirrer until completely dissolved and place on your lid. Give a gentle but purposeful swirl a couple of times to help combine the coconut oil with the rest of the ingredients. Sip and enjoy this warming healing elixir wherever you are and take your health with you on the go.
NOTE From Serene: This can also be made at home in your blender, and I often have it after dinner when I get the munchies but have no fresh stock on hand. If you are in a hotel and don’t mind carrying one of those smallish hand-held immersion blender wands, then you can whip it quickly and it becomes a creamy soup instead of a broth-y clear liquid. Or, even niftier, if you have one of those battery-operated little coffee frothing wands that fit in your purse, then you can go for the creamy option anytime, anywhere.
