SERENE CHATS: Soothing, comforting, and creamy dreamy, this Trimmy Bisque sings a Thai lullaby over you as it goes down like warm, liquid velvet. You might think it’s contradictory to use the word “lullaby” in a dinner brewed with green tea, but this delicately Thai-kissed dinner tastes and feels like a bowl of consoling restfulness. Taste and experience it for yourself. This recipe is a family-serve recipe that feeds 6 to 8 people. This recipe is found in the “Big Eats Soups” section of Trim Healthy Table Cookbook, on page 186.
Thai Lullaby Trimmy Bisque
Description
SERENE CHATS: Soothing, comforting, and creamy dreamy, this Trimmy Bisque sings a Thai lullaby over you as it goes down like warm, liquid velvet. You might think it’s contradictory to use the word “lullaby” in a dinner brewed with green tea, but this delicately Thai kissed dinner tastes and feels like a bowl of consoling restfulness. Taste and experience it for yourself. This recipe is a family-serve recipe that feeds 6 to 8 people. This recipe is found in the "Big Eats Soups" section of Trim Healthy Table Cookbook, on page 186.
Ingredients
Instructions
-
Place the cold water in a blender with the ginger pieces and blend on low for a minute. Pour it through a fine-mesh sieve into a bowl and press the ginger to get all the ginger juice out. Place this juice in a soup pot along with the broccoli, cauliflower, peas, bell peppers, onion, garlic, snow peas (if using), mushrooms, and red pepper flakes.
-
Brew your tea hot in the boiling water (or cold in 1 quart cold water) and let it steep for 3 to 5 minutes. Squeeze out the tea bags and pour the tea into your soup pot. Cover, bring to a boil, then reduce the heat and simmer until the veggies are tender.
-
Time for your Trimmy blend: Ladle out 1 cup of the veggie water (trying not to catch any veggies) and add it to a blender. Add the core Trimmy ingredients—oil, gelatin, collagen (if using), and lecithin (if using)—the coconut milk, baobab powder (if using), miso, fish sauce, soy sauce, stevia powder, salt, lemon juice, rice vinegar (if using), and onion powder. Hold the lid down tightly while you whiz until smooth. Pour it into the pot. Add the diced chicken breast, noodles, and fresh basil (if using). Taste and adjust the flavors to “own it.”
