Instructions

  1. Brew 4 of the tea bags in a glass measuring cup with the boiled water for 5 to 10 minutes. After brewing, squeeze out the tea bags (and discard). If necessary, add enough water to the measuring cup to come up to ½ cup (some may have evaporated during brewing). Pour the tea into a food processor.
  2. Open the remaining 4 tea bags and grind the tea leaves in a coffee grinder. Add to the processor. Then add the collagen, whey protein, cocoa powder, baobab powder, sweetener, salt, vanilla, pecan extract (if using), MCT oil, honey, and kombucha (if using) and process for a while until a nice gooey ball forms. Use patience, you may have to scrape down the sides several times. Once the ball has formed, start adding the oats ½ cup at a time and process them to incorporate.
  3. Once all the oats are added, process a bit more, then take the dough ball out and put it into a gallon zippy bag. Don’t zip it up. Carefully massage the bar mixture inside the bag until it is nice and combined. While still in the bag, form a nice and even large log shape. Remove this log and place it on a cutting board and cut into 8 large Clif Bar–size bars. Put each one in a little zippy bag and refrigerate until needed.

Recipe Notes

Intro Continued.....These Ultimate E Bars will rev your metabolism, nourish tired adrenals, and strip fat. They will get to work burning calories through the proven “fat burn” of oolong tea, which
also blocks fat-building enzymes. Oolong contains gentle amounts of caffeine that, combined with the catechins in this ancient tea, work together to keep a spring in your step, a perk in your posture, and a downward direction in your dress size (ahem . . . pant size if you are a dude). Along with the help of baobab powder, these bars will help lower too-high blood sugar and help keep wild cravings at bay. Slow-burning oats are thrown in the mix for easy-burn energy without any left over to store around your middle. A tad of MCT oil is used as immediately absorbed rocket fuel energy. Each of these perfectly balanced protein bars packs an awesome 22 grams of body-repairing protein. They are perfect as a preworkout meal (or Workins, if you do our exercise DVDs) and are the ultimate fix for the person who has a hard time incorporating E Meals.

Our favorite thing about them is that they take a long time to eat and are large and hefty. By the time you’ve chewed your way through one of these, your hand to mouth and teeth chomping desires have been well satisfied.

_____________

NOTE: Raw honey is a superfood and welcome in small amounts, especially at goal weight. But honey can easily turn TH recipes from waist-whittling to waist-ruining when used without thought for its impact on blood sugar. For this reason, we do not normally add it to TH official recipes. However, we have carefully crafted this bar with the perfect amount of raw honey that will not sabotage your weight loss. It is used here primarily as a natural preservative so your bars last longer in your purse.

LAST NOTE: The kombucha or kefir water is optional, but it can also give more “purse life” to your bars so they have good bacteria to fight off any bad guy bacteria. It helps them last more than a day or two in your purse.
