That’s where this vibey soup fits, somewhere at the loveliest of all levels. Bright, popping orange, yellow, and red bell peppers add to the alluring artistry, but the flavor merriment of this Trimmy Bisque might be the best part of all. Instructions

  1. Place the bell peppers, onion, and garlic in a soup pot with the 3 cups cold water. Cover, bring to a boil, reduce the heat, and simmer until tender.
  2. While the veggies are simmering, place the tea bags in 4½ cups of the boiled water and let steep for a few minutes before squeezing the tea bags and removing them from the water. (Alternatively, brew the tea in the same amount of cold water to avoid caffeine.)
  3. Divide the cilantro bunch in half. Remove the stems from one half, finely chop the leaves, and set aside. From the other half, remove only the large, tough stems and coarsely chop (this gets used next, in the Trimmy blend).
  4. Make your Trimmy: Place the brewed tea (if using coldbrewed, heat the tea after the bags are removed so your fat and hygroscopic protein Trimmy up just right) in a blender. Add the coarsely chopped cilantro and the core Trimmy ingredients— ghee, gelatin, collagen (if using), and lecithin (if using)—the Parmesan, nutritional yeast, pepper, salt, onion powder, and baobab powder (if using). Hold the lid down and whiz, then pour into the veggie pot.
  5. In the same dirty blender, place the okra and the remaining 3 cups boiled water and blend until perrrrfectly smooth. Add the puree to your pot, stir super well, then add the reserved cilantro, grated ginger, pepper flakes, lemon juice, stevia powder, matcha (if using), and chicken and bring to a perfect serving temperature. Taste and adjust the flavors to “own it.”
  6. Serve your Trimmy Bisque in gorgeous “vibey” bowls and experience unorthodox flavor winsomeness. You might like to float a few ripped-up pieces of toasted and lightly salted seaweed on top like Asian lily pads, but if that doesn’t float your boat, then pretend you didn’t read this.

Introduction Continued....

You’ll notice this soup calls for ITO EN green tea (a blend of sencha and matcha). Don’t freak out at the strange name. I buy this tea at Costco and have even spied it at Walmart. And if you can’t find it in a store, it is very easily found online. The flavor of this tea is divine, very bright tasting without a lot of bitter tannin taste, and it brews up into a vibrant, almost lime green color. While it does have a little caffeine (you can do my cold brew method if you don’t want caffeine), I do a regular hot brew for this and my kids still sleep well at bedtime. But the choice is yours. It will be the topic of conversation at hip luncheons or potluck parties, and it brings a fresh new taste sensation to the family table.

MAKE A FAMILY MEAL:

  • This is delicious served with Cheesy Flower Biscuits (page 248) and a lacy spring mix side salad with a sesame vinaigrette.
  • Or just eat a big bowlful or two and be done. Steamed brown jasmine rice is the perfect addition for Crossover family members.
