Description
A great alternative to tortillas! You won't even miss them... we promise! The Lettuce Wraps recipe can be found on page 297 of the original Trim Healthy Mama book.
Ingredients
Instructions
-
Put 6 large lettuce leaves on a couple of dinner plates.
-
Spread each one with mayo and mustard or horseradish sauce (mayo can be either light or full-fat depending on S, E or Fuel Pull).
-
Add small pieces of any meat like sausage, bacon, chicken, or beef. Use only lean meats if making wraps E or Fuel Pull style.
-
Add finely diced tomato and onion if desired. (For E, you can add some quinoa or beans, or a little pineapple).
-
Add some grated or thin sliced cheese for S. For E or Fuel Pull don’t use any cheese at all, or include a little skim mozzarella.
-
Roll each leaf up around the fillings, securing with a toothpick so they don’t unravel on your plate.
-
Transfer all your lettuce wraps to one plate and enjoy your slimming lunch or dinner.

Recipe Notes
Concerning Sandwiches, Wraps, and Roll Ups - from page 296...
"Depending upon the content of your sandwich, you will use appropriate casings. For sandwiches that contain S type fillings with higher fat like mayo, avocado, and cheese, you can use Romaine, Boston, or even head lettuce as roll ups. Those are delicious if you’ve never tried them. But, of course, make use of all our S bread type recipes like Bread in a Mug, Oopsie Rolls, Basic Sandwich Buns, Spinach Bread, Nori Wraps, Golden Flat Bread and Marcy’s Cheesy Rolls. Store-bought Joseph’s pita bread/lavish works fine for S too. On the E sandwich side, you have grain-based breads like sprouted Trader Joe’s and Ezekiel, sprouted wraps, homemade sourdough bread, or Trim Healthy Pan Bread. Joseph’s also works fine for E or Fuel Pull. Lots of options....
We are not totally removing real bread from your diet. We only want to demote it from king to servant. Keeping grain-based breads to E meals, and no more than two pieces at a time, naturally puts bread in a more waist friendly place where it no longer rules. We give you a few unique sandwich recipes here first and further on remind you of your S and E options."
