Rashida says: “Sausage Balls have always been a big hit with Jack. His mom and grandmother have always had the family tradition to make them around the holidays. Well, as delicious as they are, let’s just say they’re not the healthy way at all! I decided to try to “healthify” them up with an air fried-version
without all the empty starches that regular Sausage Balls often include, and yay . . . it worked! Husband- approved! I took them to a Christmas party this past year and my mom kept going on about how much she loved them. Since she loved them so much, I took them to my parent’s house for our Christmas brunch. They were definitely a hit with my whole family.” This recipe is found on pages 234-235 of Trim Healthy Future.

Makes about 8-10 Servings
Ingredients
Air-Fried Sausage Balls Pickled Jalapeño Version
Instructions
- Put the Wasa crackers into a gallon Ziploc. Smash with a jar until they’re a nice coarse flour. Mix in everything else (yes, I just use the Ziploc bag as my bowl).
- Make balls out of ⅓–½ of the mixture. Stick balls onto the bottom rack in the air fryer (lightly sprayed) and let cook on 390°F for 12–15 minutes. After the first 4 minutes, take the air fryer drawer out and shake it. Do that every few minutes.
- While the first batch is cooking, make balls out of the rest of the mixture. Set cooked sausage balls onto a paper towel, cover, and then proceed to cook the remaining balls.
Baking IN
-
For The Baking Option… Preheat the oven to 400 degrees, place the sausage balls on a parchment paper lined baking sheet and bake for 35 minutes.
-
For a Skillet Option: Put 1 layer of sausage balls into a large nonstick skillet set to medium-high heat. Cook until they have a nice, crisped edge and then flip and do the same.
