I have been a Trim Healthy Mama for 6 years. I remember the first time I was introduced to the plan. A good friend of mine was reading the Original THM book. Out of curiosity I asked her about it. She said it was a great book written by two sisters who taught women how to live healthy and trim lives. With my background as a registered nurse in Women’s Health I already had a passion for teaching women about health and wellness. I found that the original Trim Healthy Mama book provided me with a wealth of information about how to properly fuel your body with food in a balanced and biblical way.
I have had much success with Trim Healthy Mama. I didnít have much weight to lose, but I felt so much better. While being on plan my skin became clearer. I also noticed that the inflammation was gone from my face, hands, and joints. I experienced more energy and less brain fogginess. The next thing that I wanted to incorporate into my life was regular exercise. I did not know how to incorporate exercise into my busy schedule until I learned about Trim Healthy Mama Workins.
I started the Workins after finding out I was pregnant with my 3rd child. My first two pregnancies were C sections and I knew my third would be also. On top of that I was in my mid 30ís as opposed to being pregnant in my 20ís. I was not sure how my body would handle pregnancy with me being an older mom. I knew that the priorities were to stay healthy, keep my abdominal core strong, and have a healthy pregnancy and baby.
One thing I love about Trim Healthy Mama Workins is that it can meet the needs of women at every season of life. Serene and Pearl have done extensive research about the best way to have a safe and effective workout program for women. The Workins can be a good fit for all women no matter their fitness level. There is room for everyone! On the DVDs there are options for gentle, steady, and thrill fit to tailor and add variety to the program. My nausea had passed after the first trimester and I was ready to start the Workins. With previous exercise regimes I would get bored with them, thought it was too hard to maintain, or just felt exhausted and in pain afterwards. The program is not meant to exhaust you or stress your body but to get you to the point of being feminine fit and strong. The Workins are only 20 minutes a few times a week. There is a different Workin DVD for almost every day of the week. Although sessions are only 20 minutes, they are completely effective, intentional, and dare I say fun! You can do most of the exercises with items you have around the house. You can do them at home in your pajamas or whatever you choose! All these aspects made exercise so accessible to me.
As I started doing the Workins I noticed my body was becoming lean and strong even during pregnancy. My abdominal core was strong while my belly was growing, because in the Workins you are taught different ways to maintain core strength. I actually had more energy being pregnant with my 3rd child in my 30s than I had with my first two in my 20s. I had so much energy and strength that I was able to hike hills, mountains, and caves with my husband and two kids! I hiked with my family all the way to 32 weeks pregnant! I was amazed how well and strong I felt during the pregnancy. It truly was answer to prayer! The best thing of all was instead of the usual swelling and 40+ pounds of weight gain during pregnancy, I experienced no swelling and I had only gained 20 pounds. I continued to the do the Workins consistently 2-3 times a week all the way to 39 weeks pregnant. After my baby was born, I took the time to rest, heal, and enjoy my brand new baby, which is strongly encouraged by the sisters in the booklet that comes with the Workins.
After 8 weeks post partum I got a release from my doctor to exercise again. Over time my body responded well to the gentle and effective Workins for my newly post partum body. By the time my baby was 6 months old I had lost the 20 pounds gained, my body was strong and lean again, my milk supply was abundant, my abdominal muscles were healing nicely, and I was out hiking again with my family. My post partum recovery was incredible! I healed so much faster because of prayer, eating on plan, and the Workins! I started the Workins in March of 2017. I am still doing them today 2 years later!
I am celebrating and embracing my God-given feminine fit body!
